We're checking in with one of our favorite people profiled at skirt! - well, two people actually - for this month's skirt! Flashback feature. Let's return to our special February 2009 couples issue and Amazing Race finalists Ken and Tina Greene as they let us in on their latest adventures. Life hasn't slowed down one iota for this jetsetting couple. But first, let's get a refresher and sneak a peek back at their last profile from that Sweethearts issue.~Chris

Chris Kuhn (CK): What kinds of reactions and feedback did you get from your appearance in skirt! magazine?

Ken Greene (KG): All comments were very positive. Everyone that we spoke to thought it was insightful and well done.
Tina Greene (TG): Everyone loved the pictures and felt touched and inspired by the emotions we expressed about each other. They also enjoyed a glimpse of the behind the scenes look at The Amazing Race.

CK: Tina, at the time we spoke to you, you had just been named Chairperson of the Board for the Children’s Cancer Center. Tell us about your work with this organization since moving into this expanded role.

TG: Due to the travel we did during the airing of The Race and with our new show “Adventures with Vision” as well as my position as President of BioPharmMed – I felt the CCC was better served to have me on the Executive Board of Directors in an Advisory role. It has worked out well and I have been able to highlight and showcase the Children’s Cancer Center through “Adventures with Vision” and working with Circle of Friends on a ski trip to WI with 40 children with cancer from around the U.S. and at Beach Reunion here in the Tampa Bay Area.

CK: You also mentioned at the time plans to possibly renew your vows and shop the idea of your own travel show on a cable network. Are there any developments since the article that you can share with us?

KG:
We continue to work on “Adventures with Vision”, which is a travel show with a philanthropic cause. We have been able to put together 3 different series but it has been a challenge with the current economy. It is amazing to see how truly genuine people are when it comes to helping people that could use a boost. The show has been a tremendous blessing to us.
TG:  We have not renewed our vows as of yet…still on my bucket list. But, through “Adventures with Vision” I do think we have touched some lives across the U.S. and grown closer as a couple giving back to others and sharing adventure travel, discovering special people who have overcome adversity and highlighting outdoor activities and locales.

CK: So what else is new with you since we last featured you?

KG:  We have been doing as much travel as possible. Also, had an opportunity to film a commercial for Caribbean Cruise lines with two other teams from The Amazing Race. With no help from Tina and me, we have added two new Granddaughters to the family.
TG: What a blessing it is to be “Nana” to three awesome grandkids….Jaeda, Cooper and Elizabeth Grace…they bring so much joy to our lives. We were able to take Kenny’s parents who are in their late 80’s on a Motor home trip from WA to ID to Yellowstone and have so many wonderful memories from that bonding experience. We also travelled to Panama to explore yet another South American country we might consider down the road for ½ year each year of retirement. Our Amazing Race trip we won to Cabo San Lucas was awesome as well. A gorgeous adult only resort – Pacifica – outstanding sushi and fish tacos, an America’s Cup Yacht Race on an Official boat from New Zealand…I was elected Captain and we WON – only because Kenny gave his all with the winches and the sails. They also awarded us a 3 island kayak /snorkel tour where we were up close and could almost touch humback whales migrating.Out of all the teams that have been on The Amazing Race – CBS/Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and The Amazing Race selected us to film promotional commercials on a 10-day Cruise through Maine, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Boston and back to the Big Apple! What fun we had – rock wall climbing, ice skating, formal gourmet dinners, sunset w, breakfasts on the verandah…..and getting to know Luke and his Mom Margie! Gave us a whole new look at what it is like to be deaf and how Luke embraces it. Also what a loving but strong woman Margie is!!! We are hoping that our two teams will be selected for an Amazing Race All-Star Edition.

CK: So what lessons have you learned about yourselves and each other since February 2009?

KG: Easily, it is much more of a blessing to give than receive. I know it sounds cliché, but it is so true. Our experience with “Adventures with Vision” has been a very fulfilling experience. I think also, The Race put things into perspective, what’s important and really isn’t such a big deal.
TG: I have learned that competition and winning isn’t everything. The journey is so much more important. The people, places and lives you touch are your true legacy.

CK: What is something you hope to do or learn over the next year?
KG: We hope to expand the “Adventure with Vision” show so we can help more people that need a hand.On the selfish side, I want to learn to river kayak. We love ocean kayaking so much, it would be a natural extension of that.
TG: I hope that Season 18 will be an All Star Series and that we have another chance at being #1 and winning the $1million dollars….to then give more back to causes like The Children’s Cancer Center and to be able to invest into “Adventures with Vision." We may be doing a type of race the end of September called the The Cannonball /Fireball Run…..auto racing from Las Vegas to Illinois over 9 days/18 cities, 3500 miles…solving clues and raising money and awareness for missing children and the Klaas Kids Foundation. Our friends and fans can keep up to date with us, “Adventures with Vision,” etc. on our website: www.KennyandTina.com.
