The cash money wagon, that is.
Way back in the day (approximately three months ago), I confessed to trying to attempt the envelope system, in an effort to save money and curb unnecessary spending. Three months later, here we are – and at about two months in I started cheating with my first credit card swipe at Sephora’s. Dang beauty brands calling my name promising to make me soft, smooth, wrinkle-free and gorgeous. Korres Pomegranate Cream is my absolute FAV – you HAVE to try it!
OK – focus, focus. Anyway, one trip to the store and random excursions with Pablo – that I really didn’t have to go on – but hey, what’s a girl to do when a visiting foreigner wants to see all of the available shopping in the U. S. of A? (Look at me, blaming others).
I was planning on the three-month plan for the envelope system, pending disciplined following of the rules. My husband, without warning, took it upon himself to re-introduce the system last week. Index cards and envelopes (as we don’t follow the specific “cash” method – we deduct from these index cards – like faux money).
I haven’t been blogging because I’ve been too busy pouting. What am I...grounded? My three-month (his six-month) plan starts all over again, same rules, more discipline on my part.
In the next few weeks I may be implementing more side hustles (TBD), coupon clipping and ways to obtain cheap (or free) fun. Sigh...
Wish me luck...again! : )
This busy summer has me out of the habit of clipping coupons, but when I do I get into it-- like a game.
I go to a store that doubles and sometimes triples coupons. I find things on sale and still use coupons. And, I am thrilled to find out how much I saved-- often $20 or more!
I began clipping coupons when I was very, very broke. It was tedious and I was embarrassed. But, I found that was a "me problem" and that no one else was paying attention.
Once I finally got over my ego, the savings game became fun. I actually miss it when I'm not playing.
I wish you luck. Saving money can be difficult, especially when our society programs us to spend, spend, spend. But, think of how much easier that saved money will make life down the road. :)
