It’s a sad day. One of the best shopping buddies I’ve ever had is going back to his home country. His name is Pablo and he’s 16. Sigh. He could shop for HOURS! He would not complain about the length of time, would wander aimlessly through the aisles with me, would be excited about red tags and 75% off sales, and he understood how some things just wanted to come home with me...as many shirts, pants and shoes came home with him. My friend, Pablo is awesome.
Seriously, we are going to miss him. He’s a great kid. My husband and I have laughed ridiculously the past month and have enjoyed being a host family. If you have the room, a bit of patience (or want to work on increasing your level of patience) – playing host family to a complete stranger is the way to go. And the blessing is you get a friend in the end. How cool is that? Note: Don’t let the “seriously” beginning this paragraph fool you, I’m very serious about the paragraph above, just trying to show that shopping is not the only reason I’ll miss my new friend. Now...back to the shopping...
In college I acquired this ridiculous habit of shopping on every occasion – I’d reward myself with a purchase when I passed a test, cheer myself up with a purchase when I failed an exam, celebrate for being the friend of someone who knew someone who passed Macroeconomics...you get the drift. I’ve learned to curb this habit accordingly, but every once in awhile...
Knowing that my shopping buddy has left the state (he flew out this morning and will spend the day in NYC...where I told him the shopping is fabulous!), I immediately came home from the airport and began to throw my pity party. Woe is me, back to work. Woe is me, I have to clean the house. Woe is me, no more siestas. Woe is me, who will go wandering around the stores with me just because we want to??
Back to life without a house guest...I turned on my computer and my shopping widget pulled up this very cool necklace.

It made me smile, so I went to the website. Nicely priced at $35. So I decided to look around – and there were more items that brought joy, like:
And this:

And check these out:
OK, a little weird (and too hot for FLA right now), but I’d so rock these!
Why hadn’t I heard about this site before? Chocosho? Funky cool things that lift spirits when one’s shopping buddy has said farewell? Was I not paying attention? (I can’t stand when that happens.) Well, I know about it now, and the day is starting to look brighter.
Did you know about this site? Why didn’t you tell me?
My friend, Pablo would’ve told me : )
