So guess what I was doing last night? After having a wonderful Father’s Day with my hubby, kids, their significant others and our grandson, I had the opportunity to attend a fabulous event at Nordstrom’s in International Plaza.
The Tampa Bay Rays Wives Foundation in conjunction with the Children’s Dream Fund and Nordstrom’s hosted a Father’s Day Fashion Show and the models were...ta-dah!...the players themselves, their wives and girlfriends and children, as well as a few Children’s Dream Fund recipients. Scott Kazmir, Johnny Gomes, Evan Longoria, BJ Upton, Dan Wheeler, Andy Sonnanstine, and other Rays players and media staff took part, including 1B Carlos Pena (pictured here). Ooh la la...

It was a beautiful affair – hats off to Janet Odioso of the Children’s Dream Fund and her team for putting together a great show. Guests in attendance indulged in delicious appetizers, wine, beer and other refreshments and a fun silent auction. Plus, halfway through the fashion show (following the casual portion and before formalwear), Nordstrom’s gave out a plethora of valuable and quite popular raffle prizes, evoking several hoots in the crowd! It was a really elegant event with several players kind enough to stick around and autograph baseballs for the fathers in attendance that night.
Of course, I was kicking myself afterward for not asking someone to take a photo of my hubby Larry and me with ace pitcher Scott Kazmir (our personal favorite) who kindly chatted briefly with us after the show. Sometimes I get so starry-eyed I simply become useless. But sure did love meeting you, Scott, in case you or one of your acquaintances happens to read this. Sigh.
