You know how people say that they’ve run into people from their dreams? Well, I’ve never really experienced this myself. Certain characters in my dreams have looked familiar to me, but who knows where I first saw them.
Sometimes I see my dreams as a vague foreshadowing of something that may or may not happen and sometimes I will go as far as using whatever happened in my dream as advice on how to handle certain life situations. Yesterday, however, I ran straight into my dream at a coffee shop. Quite literally, I hit the dude with my laptop case when I fell off balance.
“Been drinking a little early this morning?” he said. I just laughed because what I really wanted to say was, “You’re the man in my dreams!” and that might not have gone over so well. Thankfully, I was suddenly having a loss for words!
It really would be a great way to strike up a conversation with a hot guy though. It sounds like something I’d tell my friends to do. “Go up and knock him over with you bag! And if that doesn’t work, jump him!” But really, I’m not clever enough to do it myself; I’m just a klutz!
I don’t exactly remember the dream in detail, just bits of weirdness as dreams usually are. I do know that he was bagging my groceries and I remember thinking, “this guy could do way better!” The next thing I know he’s Djing at a house party being thrown by Dr. Phil and my mother. I don’t remember anything beyond that and I don’t think I want to.
I’m sure he thought I really was sipping the juice in the a.m. because I was looking at him wide-eyed – kinda like starring at a ghost. In an effort to correct the weird vibe I’m sure I was given off, I went with the classic, “Do I know you?” Much to my surprise, he said maybe.
We sat there for an hour or so, talking and getting to know each other a little. I can happily report he doesn’t bag groceries – whew! The next thing I knew, it was time for me to go meet up with a friend for lunch. Before I left, he asked, “I’ll be here tomorrow around the same time if you want to knock me over again!”
I smiled and said, “Okay – wear a helmet!”

I love reading about chance encounters that somehow in the end wind up making sense. Whether it's through a dream or six degrees of separation it makes the world seem not so large and unconnected.

Well, I must say, I really enjoyed this blog. I too ran into the man in my dreams, but we were at a boxing match. I knocked him down a flight of steps. And he wasn't wearing a helmet. And guess what happend? I married him. I'd be very interested in knowing how this one turns out. Nice job Siren!

I can actually picture your mom and Dr. Phil throwing a party; somehow it works. Loved the post!
