In Fact: The Best of Creative Nonfiction

This amazing book, edited by Lee Gutkind, contains what he deems to be the best of the best--the 25 best essays from the over 300 essays published by Creative Nonfiction over the past ten years... which were chosen from over 10,000 entries! With an introduction by Annie Dillard and subjects as varied as Francine Prose’s “Going Native,” where Prose combines cultural analysis with memoir and self-reflection, and Lauren Slater’s, “Three Spheres,” about her experience as a psychologist called to help a patient at an institution where she once spent many months as a patient. I’m reading it in preparation for Gutkind’s Creative Nonfiction Workshop, which he’s teaching at the University of Mississippi on September 29.
