In the news today: The six teen girls in Lakeland who were arrested after videotaping themselves beating 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay to the point of passing out, leaving her with a concussion and impaired hearing and vision. The pack of junior miscreants planned to post the video on YouTube in retribution for Lindsay “trash-talking” them on her MySpace page.
According to the authorities, the girls joked in their holding cell following their arrest, wondering aloud if they would make it to cheerleading practice the next day.
Seriously? I’m all for rehabilitating “lost youth,” but at what point did these Little Miss Monsters decide they could flip their pom-poms at the societal norms of common decency?
The Polk County Sheriff is asking the State Attorney’s Office to charge them as adults. Personally, I’ve got my fingers crossed.
