on my way home from my new shrink appointment today, i took in eyefull of jacarandas that are ready to birth acres of purple. spring is happening, and it’s not making fun of us with grey-cloud minds,
regardless of what our inside-out brains try to tell us, it happens anyway. there is some uncomfortable comfort in that. my orchids, (i have two), are in full bloom and thriving, the confederate jasmine that i planted to entwine the front columns of my house last year, are daring each other as to which one is going to bloom first. (btw, it was the jasmine on the left side that bloomed last week, but i don't have the heart to deliver the news to the right).
i fill my bird feeders nearly every day, hoping to bring the veery thrush that sings so beautifully a little closer to my bedroom window, but he's out-muscled by the squirrels.
it doesn’t take a genius to appreciate why the pagan observance of spring was co-mingled with the re-birth of a humanly diety. it feels good to know that we will sprout after a cold winter.
go get those dust bunnies!

All of a sudden I have this urge to play hooky tomorrow and spend the day on my lanai watching the birds chilling on our fence. Spring fever is definitely in the air!
