My work:

Owner and lead outdoors guide, Not a Clue Adventures

My pride and joy:
My daughter Jayme and 3 granddaughters Taryn, Nadaysha and Emma

Best thing I ever purchased:
Five acres of land in the Tennessee Mountains

I cannot live without:
My family, friends and faith

My hometown:
Pittsburgh, PA (Irwin, Jeanette, Pitcairn, Trafford)

I’m thinking about:
Finding the best way to encourage families to get outside more!

Words I live by:
Do the best you can with what you have and do it now.

I never thought I would:
I never would have thought that I would ever attempt a 42 mile 3 day hike with a 50 lb backpack at 45 years old – but I succeeded and can’t wait to do it again!

What inspires me:
Nature always finds a way to heal itself – in that I think there can be hope for our human shortcomings.

What really ticks me off:
People that are so self-absorbed that nothing matters except what is pleasing to them at that very moment. We are all attached in one way or another, and we have to start behaving in a way that is less about “self.”

One thing I never want to do again:
Grow up – I had a very hard life all the way through my mid-30’s. I learned a lot but don’t want to have to go back and do it again!

If I could be totally wild, I would:
Sell the house – buy an RV and hit the road – There are so many wonderful places I would love to see in the USA before I get too old to enjoy them!

I am guilty of:
I sometimes “judge the book by the cover”…but I am working on that. I can be over-critical and seek perfection a bit too much.

Right now I’m reading:
Woodswoman IIII by Anne LaBastile – this series of books I recommend to any woman needing to “heal” after difficult times that life can present to us

The one encounter or experience that changed my life:
Attending a BOW event. A couple of years ago my fiancé told me about a woman’s workshop (Becoming an Outdoors Woman) offered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and offered to pay the fee for me to attend. Rob knew I loved the outdoors and though it would be fun for me to go. I had a blast! I also realized that you are never too old or too young to try to do more of the things you love. Not long after, I developed the things I love into Not a Clue Adventures!

Favorite website/blog:
I have many – most all of them about the outdoors! http://www.floridahikes.com/blog   http://wahoohiker.com/  http://www.adventurewoman.com/ And of course http://tampabay.skirt.com/ and Facebook!

Last major purchase:
Trailer to haul all my camping gear!

Greatest compliment you could give me:
That I was a true friend and that one felt they could truly be themselves around me.

My theme song:
John Denver, "Country Roads"

If I could go back in time, I would:
Go back to when the prairies were free and unexplored – I would have love to have been one of the first to cross the Mississippi!

The food that brings me back to my childhood:
Fluffer-nutter sandwiches – Marshmallow Fluff and Peanut butter on Wonder bread.

If I could have any super power it would be:
The power to empower others – to give them the strength and determination to be able to rise above themselves and accomplish their dreams.

My blog:
The most important thing I ever lost:
For about 11 years  - while in a destructive relationship with an alcoholic, I lost myself. I was very lucky to have found myself and to still be able to pull myself back up and learn to live again!

The most important thing I ever found:
My passion for the outdoors.

Best thing I ever heard:
My grandchild saying, “I love you grandma”.

I still can’t get the hang of:
Accounting – I really dislike numbers.

One thing I wish I’d known then that I know now:
I did not have to have a man to be whole.

If I could change one thing about the world, I would:
Remove selfishness from existence.

I’d like to learn to:
Forgive more, love deeper and be less self conscience.

Something most people don’t know about me:
I lived in my car for over a year.

My mother always said:
Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Best idea I ever had:
To leave my hometown – I have gotten to experience so much since I left and I have met some of the most amazing people! I have had so many opportunities that were not available in the town I grew up in.

Worst idea I ever had:
I have had too many to list.

My first job:
Bus-girl….then waitress – I have over 14 years experience in food service – I guess where I get my customer service skills from.

I would you love to clink glasses and gab with over dinner:
Jesus, John Muir, Annie Oakley.

My greatest fear is:
That my grandchildren will not have the skills to make it in the world that will be presented to them.

I feel charged up when:
I can look out at all God created and feel the sun on face and the wind on my skin and joy in my heart.

When I grow up, I want to be:
I want to be able to share all I have learned about the outdoors and all that fills them with our youth and show them the importance of saving these places for their children.

At the end of a long day, the first thing I want to do is:
Pat my dog on the head and sit back on the porch and watch the sun set snuggled up next to the love of my life and dream of what comes tomorrow.

Don’t forget to…
Say "I love you" to all the special persons in your life.

Always…
Acknowledge others, for we all have special gifts to share.

Never...
Hold onto anger. It will eat you alive. Most persons you have ill feelings for don’t even know it. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. Remember – it is written in the Lord’s prayer “and forgive us our trespasses, AS WE FORGIVE those that trespass against”. You must take the first step.
